Congregational Meeting and Lunch
The session is calling a congregational meeting for January 21, 2018 immediately following the worship service to vote on officer nominations and to discuss the upcoming year. The officer nominees are:
Jon Burke -- Elder (1st Term) Jay Hassinger -- Elder (2nd term) Darryl MacPherson -- Elder (2nd term) Dennis Ohme – Elder (1st term)Rick Ramage -- Elder (2nd term) Nate Smith -- Deacon
Please pray for wisdom. In addition, please take the time to meet with any of these men and get to know them before we vote.
We will be having a luncheon at the January congregational meeting. What could be better during this cold season than soup?! Please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the narthex and let us know if you can bring soup, salad or dessert. See Sue Petersen with questions.
CPR/AED Heartsaver Training Course
The office staff will be taking a CPR/AED Heartsaver Training Course here at the church on Tuesday, January 23rd from 9:00 AM—12:00 PM. Would you like to join them in learning these life-saving skills? If so, please call the church office — we will need to know in advance if you’re coming.
Starting on January 4th, 2018, the prayer group resumed meeting at Providence - Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in Room 1. All are welcomed and encouraged to come and pray for individual needs, and the needs of our church, our community, and our nation.
Ladies—Do you enjoy fellowship while working on a craft project? A group of women meet weekly on Tuesdays from 1-3 here at the church, and they welcome newcomers. Just bring that half-finished sweater or the scrapbook you’ve wanted to complete for years and join in the comradery.
Ladies Prayer Partner Ministry Ladies — We have prayer partner ministry. If you would like to participate, complete a registration form which can be found on the back table, and drop it in the Women’s Ministry box. See Margaret Ramage or Denise Denning with questions.
The Women's Ministry Team meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM here at the church building. Any woman who attends Providence is welcome to attend these meetings. As a woman you are inherently a part of the women's ministry, therefore we welcome your input and suggestions. Please contact Denise Denning for more information.
In Case of Bad Weather
When the weather outside is frightful...we may need to modify or cancel activities or Sunday services. Please check WGAL’s list of closings, the PPC Facebook page, or this website for up-to-date information.
Human Life Services is a "life affirming, Christ-centered, pregnancy care organization, serving York through medical services, peer counseling, education, and community referrals." Would you like to help this ministry in a fun and easy way? Take a baby bottle (one per family) and fill it with loose change and/or bills and return the bottle to the church on February 11th. The proceeds from the collection will go directly to Human Life Services to support their work. For more information about this organization, check out www.humanlifeservices.org.
Ladies' Bible Study
The Women’s Bible Study will kick off their next study on Thursday, January 18th from 9:15—11:00 AM with a brunch. We will be studying the books of I & II Timothy and Titus using Pete Summer’s book, “Do What You Have Heard.” Together we will work our way through topics including spiritual deception, how grace confronts conflict, exercising leadership, and supporting leadership within the church. Please contact Shannon Hawk if you’ll be joining us so that we can order a book for you. See Shannon with any questions.
Dealing with Life Threatening and Life Changing Illnesses
Join us on January 23rd at 6:30 PM; Sharon Herman will be leading a Bible study she developed after her bout with cancer. “Physical Weakness to Spiritual Strength: "Dealing with Life Threatening and Life Changing Illnesses” will combine the work of four authors — John Piper, Vince Wood, Kelly Sensenig and Stephanie Hubach — and will look at these life changing events from God’s perspective. Together the group will search Scripture to answer questions like: Why me? Why now? and we will seek to understand what God expects of us as we walk this new path. When we feel that everything in our life has changed and nothing will ever be the same again, we will remember the promises of God that have not changed. Please join us for this study every other week from 6:30-8:00 PM. Contact Sharon with questions.
Mark your calendars for March 23, 2018 because you won’t want to miss PPC’s Fun Nite Out with Peter Bottros, pianist/composer. Peter is originally from Egypt and shares his wonderful God-given gift of music, all the more remarkable because he’s had no formal training. He and his band have performed at the Pullo Center and the Strand, so we are very excited about welcoming him to Providence. For a sneak peak, visit http://peterbottros.com/videos/carol-of-the-bells/ and http://peterbottros.com/videos/imagine/.
The church library has been moved to the room at the front of the sanctuary on the left. You are welcome you to check out (figuratively and literally) all the great books available for children and adults, either after worship or any time the church office is open. Take advantage of this great resource!
