The Life of Providence.

Saturday, November 2
8:30 am – 4:30 pm
at Providence Presbyterian

Your story includes the wounds you carry, and God’s disdain for the abuse you endured. It is a powerful story which brings healing for you and your community when you speak it with your own voice.
Our keynote speaker will be Darby Strickland, a Christian Counselor who speaks at churches, educating them how they can care for those affected by domestic abuse. Darby was trained at Westminster Theological Seminary where she obtained a Masters of Divinity specialized in Counseling. She is the author of Domestic Abuse: Help for the Sufferer and Domestic Abuse: Recognize, Respond, Rescue.

They are both currently going through book one of the design for discipleship series by the Navigators. Fall Ladies Bible Study will begin Thursday, September 19. We meet from 9:15 - 11: A.M. and will be studying God‘s word from Psalm 23 guided by a time honored classic, A Shepherd Looks at the 23rd Psalm by W. Philip Keller. All ladies are welcome. This is the time to invite friends, neighbors, and relatives.
Our first week of study always starts with a brunch potluck. If your contribution will be a protein dish, let Shannon Hawk know by text or e-mail. (See church directory.)
Any questions please contact Shannon Hawk.

1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month
1:00 – 3:00 pm

Ladies—Do you enjoy fellowship while working on a craft project?  A group of women meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., here at the church, and they would love to see some new faces! All are invited to join this great group and work on any craft of your choosing or just hang out and chat.  You do not need to be a member of our church to join us.

Thursday, September 12
6:30 am - 7:30 am and every other Thursday at Round the Clock Diner (Rte 30)

Breakfast, Fellowship and the study of a book of the bible using the Question template we have used in the past (I’ll plan to bring some copies along). We will occasionally intersperse study of a particular book of the bible with personal testimonies and/or the sharing of passages that have had an impact on one of our lives. We try to save time at the end for prayer requests and prayer. We plan to always wrap things up by 7:30, but those who are able are always welcome to stick around and chat afterwards.

September 26
6:00 – 9:-00 pm

Mark your calendars for our Young Adult Fall Kick Off! On September 26th we'll be gathering at the church for good food, good fellowship, and good fun! We'll start at 6:00pm and wrap up somewhere around 9:00pm. The plan is to enjoy dinner with each other, play some autumn-infused games, and hang out around the camp fire. Please bring a snack and drink to share. Dinner will be provided. Be sure to invite a friend to join us!

A prayer group meets at Providence Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in Room 1. All are welcomed and encouraged to come and pray for individual needs, and the needs of our church, our community, and our nation.

The Session is calling for a Congregational Meal and Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, October 20, immediately following the 10:30 AM worship service. The meal will be “pot-luck” style dining. The meeting will be centered on The future of the Presbyterian Church of America denomination as it relates to Biblical sexuality, and the future of Providence Presbyterian Church in the PCA.

An important element of our goal to come alongside of survivors of domestic abuse is Refuge Ministries. We are currently holding weekly support groups for women and men, here at Providence, and welcome others to join us and find healing and redemption from oppression. Do you know someone who would benefit from participating in these weekly support groups? Please see Vince for more information.

Jon Burke has started a men’s Bible study using the Navigators Design for Discipleship series but is looking for other men that want to meet for discipleship. If you would be interested in attending a discipleship group, contact Jon.

PPC is looking for a volunteer who would be willing to take over the prayer chain ministry. If you feel this is something you could do and would be willing to do, or if you have any questions about what all is done with the prayer chain email list, please contact Karen Montgomery.

Photo sessions Tuesday, November 5th and Wednesday, November 6th from 2:00 – 9:00 pm

We have again partnered with Lifetouch to provide pictorial directories for 2020, including a mobile directory. Their professional studio will be here at Providence on November 5th and 6th.
All groups photographed will receive a free 8”x10” photo, a coupon for $10 off a purchase, a $30 Shutterfly gift certificate, and a free pictorial directory.
All portraits will be shipped directly to families within two weeks of the event for those interested in using a family portrait as a Christmas gift. Lifetouch is now partnered with Shutterfly.
Lifetouch also has a Friends & Family program where people outside of our church can be photographed and receive the same promotions, without being listed in our directory or receiving a free directory.
