Senior Pastor

In January 2012, Providence gave a fond farewell to our senior pastor of 17 years, Andy Phillips. We were greatly blessed by his ministry and leadership during which time we established our permanent building, grew our numbers, and planted two daughter churches.  We are now seeking our next senior pastor and look forward to what God has in store for Providence Church.

During this time of transition, our two Assistant Pastors are continuing in their ministry areas. Returned missionary, David Cross, is serving as Teaching Elder and moderator of our Session of elders. David is preaching monthly at worship services, and other guest preachers along with our own assistant pastors are also filling our pulpit.

Darryl MacPherson, Assistant to the Pastor

Darryl has been on staff at Providence since 2003; the first two years, he served as a part-time Youth Director, and in 2005, he was hired as a full-time Assistant to the Pastor. He has served in two other churches in Pennsylvania; in Quakertown for three and a half years as Director of Christian Education, and in Dover for ten years, as Pastor of Youth and Family.  Darryl also served for five years as Work Camp Coordinator and Youth Mission Trip Director for PA Christian Endeavor.  A graduate of Lancaster Bible College, he and his wife, Marlena, have been married for three years. Marlena is an Electrical Engineer for Buchart-Horn Inc., in York city and is a very active member of the volunteer youth staff at Providence.  She grew up in Dover, PA.  The MacPhersons are proud parents of a grown son, Tyler, and a daughter-in-law, Amanda, both of whom also serve as volunteer youth workers at Providence.

Chris Knaebel, Assistant to the Pastor

Chris came to Providence in 2010 to lead small groups, high school, young adults and music ministries.  A native of Hagerstown, MD, he is the son of a Presbyterian Church in America church planter.  Chris received his undergraduate degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL in 2005 and is a 2010 graduate of Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.  While attending Moody, Chris served as an intern at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Chicago and in a chaplaincy role with the Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir.  He has also served as a Pastoral Intern at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove, PA.  His wife, Rebecca, who grew up near Knoxville, TN, also holds a degree from Moody in Missions.  The Knaebels have been married for five years and enjoy the City, good music and great coffee.
