The ministry to and through our youth involves Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12). These individual groups called "CREW" (Caring, Relationships, Evangelism, Worship) meet with adult leaders each Sunday evening during the school months. Middle school CREW meets at 5 p.m. and high school CREW meets at 7 p.m. During the summer, both CREW Youth Groups join together at an area park, pool, or home on Sunday evenings. Providence Presbyterian CREW Youth Group is engineered to be a safe and welcoming gathering where students can have fun and build relationships as they grow together spiritually, mentally, and socially.
The events and gatherings of CREW are a balance of activities designed to develop students who model the perfect example of Jesus Christ. Our aim is for students to view the Biblical Jesus as THE role model. Weekly Sunday School, Sunday evening CREW meetings, and special events throughout the year, combine to foster a community. This CREW ministering community's mission, therefore, is to learn to know and share the love of Jesus for the glory of God. A "typical" Sunday evening gathering may include: - Bible Study
- Discussion of issues relevant to students
- Worship through music led by students
- Prayer
- Activity planning
- Stories of God working in the lives of our students and adults
- Games and activities
Examples of special events of CREW are: - Salt-N-Light Night: One Sunday evening per month during the school year, featuring a guest speaker or musician.
- Week-long mission trips on a three-year cycle of York City, one of the United States, or out of the country. Past trips not serving in York city include: Jamaica; Fayetteville, West Virginia; Mexico; Cherokee, North Carolina; Belize.
