In June of 2011, 18 teens and five adults from Providence went on a missions trip to New Orleans to work with underprivileged children. This experience made quite an impact on the youth, so we asked a few of them for their thoughts and impressions of the week. Here are some of their journal entries--
CREW X-Fuge 2011 New Orleans Trip
“I have seen God's love and power change so much in the time I have been in New Orleans. When I first arrived in NOLA, I didn't see God's love or power change or move through people. When we were exploring NOLA, there were poor people on the street singing songs to earn money. Most people just clapped after a song was over or paid no attention to them whatsoever."
"I remember seeing the children faces change into smiles as they ran towards us at Earhart Park. I also realized we make a difference in their lives. And it's all because of God's love. The love he gave to us to give to these children. God has changed these children's lives by moving through us. And the amazing thing is, they have got very close and felt relaxed and comfort when they were around us. And that was in just 3 days."
"So if you came to me asked, ‘Have you seen God's love and power work through those when you were in New Orleans?’, I would reply saying, ‘Yes. Yes I have.’”
"Saw two kids come to Christ today. How awesome was that. God totally worked amazing things today. Praying for you Malik and Anthony!"
