Piano and Pie

Mark your calendars for March 23, 2018 because you won’t want to miss PPC’s Fun Nite Out with Peter Bottros, pianist/composer. Peter is originally from Egypt and shares his wonderful God-given gift of music, all the more remarkable because he’s had no formal training. He and his band have performed at the Pullo Center and the Strand, so we are very excited about welcoming him to Providence. For a sneak peak, visit http://peterbottros.com/videos/carol-of-the-bells/ and http://peterbottros.com/videos/imagine/.  The concert starts at 7 PM and dessert will be served at intermission. Seating will be auditorium style so there will be room for more people to attend this "not to miss" outreach event. What a perfect evening to share with friends and family! There will be a sign-up sheet for anyone wishing to help with desserts, and babysitting will be provided. See Lyn Mitchell with questions.

Dealing with Life Threatening and Life Changing Illnesses

Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30 PM.  Sharon Herman is leading a Bible study she developed after her bout with cancer. “Physical Weakness to Spiritual Strength: "Dealing with Life Threatening and Life Changing Illnesses” combines the work of four authors —  John Piper, Vince Wood, Kelly Sensenig and Stephanie Hubach — and looks at these life changing events from God’s perspective. Together the group is searching Scripture to answer questions like: Why me? Why now? and seeks to understand what God expects of us as we walk this new path. When we feel that everything in our life has changed and nothing will ever be the same again, we will remember the promises of God that have not changed.  Please join us for this study every other week from 6:30-8:00 PM.  Contact Sharon with questions.

Ongoing Events

A prayer group meets at Providence Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in Room 1.   All are welcomed and encouraged to come and pray for individual needs, and the needs of our church, our community, and our nation.

Teacher Training Opportunity

Providence will hold a teacher training class on March 9th  (7-9 PM) & 10th (8 AM - 12 PM) This class is intended primarily for adult Sunday school teachers, but everyone is welcome to attend. If you’ve taught in the past or if you might be interested in teaching in the future but just want more information, this course is for you. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the narthex. See Tim Alleman or Vince Wood with questions.

Refuge Ministries

Please mark your calendars for Monday, March 12th from 7-9 PM for a Town Hall meeting here at Providence. Reverend Shane Waldron and Sissy Hashley will be sharing about Refuge Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping families find healing from domestic abuse. It is our hope that Providence can offer Refuge Ministries here in York as we continue to serve families impacted by this issue, and that other churches in the Presbytery and beyond will consider doing so as well. See Vince with questions or visit http://refugeministries.com

Ladies' Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study meets from 9:15—11:00 AM on Thursday mornings. We will be studying the books of I & II Timothy and Titus using Pete Summer’s book, “Do What You Have Heard.” Together we will work our way through topics including spiritual deception, how grace confronts conflict, exercising leadership, and supporting leadership within the church. Please contact Shannon Hawk if you’ll be joining us so that we can order a book for you. See Shannon with any questions.

We need your help! The Women’s Bible Study is thriving and we are so thankful for the many women who want to participate. In particular, there are several moms (and grandmoms) with children, so we have a need for childcare workers. Would you be able to watch these young ones on an occasional Thursday morning from 9-11? See Shannon Hawk with questions.

Women's Ministry

Ladies—Do you enjoy fellowship while working on a craft project?  A group of women meet weekly on Tuesdays from 1-3 here at the church, and they welcome newcomers.  Just bring that half-finished sweater or the scrapbook you’ve wanted to complete for years and join in the comradery.

Ladies Prayer Partner Ministry  Ladies — We have prayer partner ministry.  If you would like to participate, complete a registration form which can be found on the back table, and drop it in the Women’s Ministry box. See Margaret Ramage or Denise Denning with questions.

The Women's Ministry Team meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM here at the church building. Any woman who attends Providence is welcome to attend these meetings. As a woman you are inherently a part of the women's ministry, therefore we welcome your input and suggestions. Please contact Denise Denning for more information.
